    Blood Sugar Record for Coca-Cola and Coca-Cola Zero

    Coca-Cola is a leading carbonated beverage loved worldwide. It has been popular in Japan for many years and is easily available everywhere - from vending machines to convenience stores and restaurants. So, what's the difference in blood sugar levels between regular Coca-Cola containing sugar and sugar-free Coca-Cola Zero?

    In this study, we measured and compared blood sugar level changes using a CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitoring) device.

    Coca-Cola 350ml

    350ml was consumed from a 500ml bottle.

    After consuming regular Coca-Cola, blood sugar levels rose sharply, reaching a peak (approximately 200mg/dL) after 30-40 minutes. Then, from around 60 minutes, it gradually decreased, returning to nearly baseline levels after 120 minutes.

    Coca-Cola Zero 350ml

    350ml was consumed from a 500ml bottle.

    Since Coca-Cola Zero uses artificial sweeteners, blood sugar levels remained almost stable after consumption. While there were slight fluctuations, no significant impact was observed.

    Characteristics:

    • Almost no effect on blood sugar levels

    From this graph, we can see that while Coca-Cola causes a sharp rise in blood sugar levels, Coca-Cola Zero has no impact on blood sugar levels.
